Research Center for Biotechnology was initially named the Inter-University Center (PAU) for Biotechnology, established in 1985, under the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 909/D/T/1996. The establishment of the Inter-University Center (PAU) for Biotechnology aimed to develop biotechnology in Indonesia through research activities, seminars, workshops, research internships, short courses, and sending teaching staff to various foreign universities for doctoral and master’s programs. Since 2001, based on the decision of UGM’s Rector No. 25/P/SK/HKTL/2001, the Inter-University Center (PAU) for Biotechnology was transformed into the Research Center for Biotechnology UGM.
