Monday, May 30, 2022, The farewell event for the PKL (internship) students from SMKN 2 Depok was held in the meeting room of The Research Center of Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada. The event was attended by the Head of The Research Center of Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada, the Head of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology, the supervising teacher for the PKL students, the staff of The Research Center of Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada, and the PKL students from SMKN 2 Depok.

Friday, May 13, 2022, the Center for Biotechnology Studies has enthusiastically held a Syawalan for the family of The Research Center for Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada. With the holding of this event, it is hoped that the relationship will become closer and get blessings from God Almighty. Syawalan was attended by education staff, leaders, research assistants, and PKL students at the Biotechnology Study Center.
The Syawalan ended with a meal and casual conversation. Although the pandemic situation in Indonesia has improved, this event still followed government guidelines and health protocols while organizing the Syawalan event. This activity is useful to promote the 8th SDG, which is about economic development during Covid.
As part of the research and education collaboration with ACIAR (Australian Center for International Agricultural Research), under Project HORT/2019/164: “Preparedness and Management of Huánglóngbìng (Citrus Greening Disease) to Safeguard the Future of Citrus Industry in Australia, China, and Indonesia,” The Research Center for Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada held a discussion with ACIAR on Monday, May 17, 2022. The discussion was attended by approximately 15 individuals, including Irene Ilga Kernot, who represented ACIAR.
Monday, May 18, 2022, all educational staff at Research Center for Biotechnology, along with master’s and doctoral students in biotechnology, held an iftar (buka bersama) event. This event was utilized as an opportunity to maintain strong relationships and bonds between staff members and students. The event, which took place in the corridor of the PAU Graduate School building, was attended by approximately 70 individuals, including staff, students, and invited guests.
The event commenced with an opening speech by Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas, S.Si., M.Sc., followed by enjoying the provided meal. Additionally, the event included a group photo for the master’s and doctoral students in biotechnology. The solemnity of the occasion is hoped to continue in the years to come. This activity is in accordance with SDG 16, which is to help promote peace.
Friday, March 18, 2022, The Research Center for Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada welcomed an audience visit from the National Committee for Sharia Economic and Financial Affairs (KNEKS). The visit revolved around discussions regarding the collaboration for creating a DNA-based Halal Authentication Tool, which would involve the utilization of the laboratories at The Research Center for Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The discussion was conducted with enthusiasm, leading to further planning regarding the collaboration offer. It is expected that following the visit on Friday (3/18), there will be ongoing communication between The Research Center for Biotechnology Universitas Gadjah Mada and the National Committee for Sharia Economic and Financial Affairs (KNEKS).
